The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow

Antiques dealer Thomasina Bateman is writing a publication on the barrows of England that documents the treasures she uncovers in the. A mysterious letter invites her to the tiny town of Bewlay, tucked away in the remote countryside she sets off by train along with her friend to spend the day in Bewlay.
Upon her arrival, however she discovers that the mysterious person who called her has not yet be found. Her assistant never arrives. Landowners who are obstinately opposed to access to the barrow while the people in the area are wary of the woman who’s traveling alone as well (gasp!) wears trousers.
The digging of Hob’s Barrow is off to a rocky start. Thomasina starts to experience strange dreaming…
